"When you say 'I'm anti-woke' when you talk about wokeness, you're saying 'I'm anti-Black.’”
So declared Missouri Rep. Cori Bush in a congressional hearing Tuesday.
“Unless you are saying 'I'm racist, white supremacist, and I'm bigoted,' stop talking about wokeness," the black lawmaker went on. "And you can't tell me that I'm wrong because I'm from the very movement where this came about. Don't let a fascist tell you what being woke means."
The left has a clear idea of what it means to be "woke." They believe that since American life is built on a white supremacist foundation, equality demands race-based redistribution policies. These include mandatory racial quotas in hiring, DEI indoctrination in schools and businesses, and criminal justice reforms designed to benefit POC. Race is central to how the left understands "wokeness." Everything else follows.
Conservatives’ understanding of wokeness is less clear. They view it as political correctness or leftism run amok, and left wing gender ideology is its prime expression. Drag queens loom far larger in their nightmares than race riots. Trans-friendly ads prompt more corporate boycotts than racial quotas.
Gender ideology is a menace and should be challenged, especially when promoted to children. But the most pressing threats to our civilization are broadly categorized as identity issues, such as mass immigration, anti-white racism, etc. These represent permanent changes to the demographic makeup of the country. Change the people, and America as we know it ceases to exist. Unfortunately, the current focus of the anti-woke crusade ignores those civilizational threats. It may even encourage conservatives to embrace mass immigration and diversity, as recent immigrants and ethnic minorities often oppose the extravagances of LGBT propaganda.
On the same day as Cori Bush’s unhinged rant, conservatives cheered on Muslims protesting LGBT curricula in Montgomery County, Maryland schools. They championed Armenians beating up Antifa at a protest against school Pride Month activities in Glendale, California. These immigrant communities were heralded as the new bastion against progressivism, a POC revolt against white liberal extremism.
Both demonstrations were praiseworthy; parents of all backgrounds should stand up to insanity in their kids’ schools. But third world immigration is not a weapon against the progressive left. A singular focus on fighting the left's gender and sex propaganda makes the right forget that.
“Muslims in Montgomery County protesting against LGBT books in school. The other side appears all white, mostly women,” Richard Hanania tweeted. “Selling immigrants on hating liberals would be the easiest thing in the world to do if conservatives had a real interest in winning.”
Anti-woke activist Asra Nomani, who’s Muslim herself, echoed this sentiment in an even more over-the-top tweet:
Mostly immigrant parents in Montgomery County, Md., face off against mostly white American-born woke women of privilege who use Lady Gaga to silence parents of color in @CoalitionVirtue — who outnumber the woke activists about 5-1. Wait til the end: one of these woke women refuses to shake my hand, while the religiously conservative men extend their hand to me. Parents just want the right to opt out of age-inappropriate sexual indoctrination.
Remember that most of these Maryland parents — like our mostly Asian parents in @coalitionforTJ in Virginia — speak English as a second language, fear challenging authority, have little legacy or “privilege” in America — and they will risk everything to protect their children. They are @rweingarten’s @SecCardona’s and the hard left’s worst nightmare. They are mama bears and papa bears who overcame their every fear to come out to protect their cubs. Parents will decide 2024!
It’s nice that Muslims protest this nonsense in their neighborhoods. But opposing LGBT indoctrination in schools is not their primary interest — and the same is true of other minority groups. Muslim groups want more immigration to bring their co-ethnics to this country. They benefit from the race-based spoils system. They have no problems with anti-white racism and replacing the historic American nation. They actively lobby for it.
We all know that white liberals are a big problem. But all too often, the Right insists that wokeness is an entirely white phenomenon. That’s just not true. White liberals aren’t the primary group pushing for reparations and to defund the police. They may enable those policies, but minorities drive the demands. Non-whites are the ones who benefit the most.
Contra Cori Bush, the War on Woke is not a proxy for race issues. In fact, it appears to be diverting the Right from those problems. That’s a grave mistake. Mass immigration and anti-white racism are far more important than who Bud Light puts on a beer can.
But conservatives only seem to care about LGBT outrages, not identity issues. Republicans didn’t boycott companies that endorsed Black Lives Matter or that adopted anti-white policies. The NFL turned itself into a BLM propaganda vehicle and still displays woke messages in its end-zones. Yet, conservatives serve as some of the league’s most aggressive defenders. Even in the wake of the backlash against Bud Light and Target, conservatives are more forgiving of racial insanity.
Take Chick-fil-A, for instance. Conservative media discovered last week that the Christian fast food chain has a DEI executive. Boycott calls came and went. A number of prominent conservatives rushed to defend Chick-fil-A and its DEI officer. Radio host Erick Erickson said people shouldn’t worry about Chick-fil-A’s DEI policies because they were in keeping with the company’s Christian values.
The fight against LGBT indoctrination is worthless if it comes at the cost of identity issues. Petty outrage over Dylan Mulvaney’s face is less important than securing the country’s demographic future.
The Right shouldn’t support BASED immigrants to own white liberals. We should take their help where we can get it while remembering that identity will always remain paramount.
Does The War On Woke Address Race?
Right on. Trump vindicated what you’re saying by proving the foolishness of the GOP’s endless “minority outreach.” He found the missing white voters and inspired them to turn out. Youngkin did the same thing in VA, which is an even better validation of your argument. His win had much more to do with rural American voters angry about restrictions on gun rights than it did “based Indian and Asian and Muslim parents” angry about school admissions in NOVA. Yet the latter is to whom conservative media ascribed the win. It is so lame
These Alphabet people dont breed. The Identity issues need to be corrected quickly or we can never change them. The LGBT will eventually dwindle do to birthrates
